New Frameless Glass Barriers that Comply with B1/AS1
In Early May 2016 the Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment notified the industry that they intend to amend the glass barrier requirements in the acceptable solution B1/AS1, to those requirements in NZS 4223.3:2016.
This amendment came into effect on June 01 – 2016. This time line is extremely short and has caused considerable concern within the industry. Feedback and concerns re this time line from industry bodies such as GANZ have been ignored, hence we are now in the through of adjusting to these changes.
Canterbury Balustrade have systems and products to meet these new requirements and have been supplying and installing frameless glass designed balustrades in Christchurch for over 20 years.
We are able to offer a range of balustrade systems with different glass types and attachments to meet the wide range of designs and safety requirements.

Face fixed stand-off fittings
These are generally stainless steel, bolt-on fixings for fixing through the toughened glass via holes in the glass. Suitable for both internal and external applications, fittings are available in various sizes, as well as a square option to cater for different architectural styles. Fittings can also be powder coater or concealed.

Clamp channels – are typically a heavy duty, powder-coated aluminium extrusion with cover plates and bolt assembled.
Being independent means we can offer you a variety of top or side fixed options to suit your specific project and all channels can be coloured to suit your setting requirements.
For clean lines when working with concrete slabs the glazing channel is cast in situ directly into the concrete and makes the glass balustrade or fencing appear flush with ground level. This requires a minimum concrete depth of 100mm.

Exposed stainless supports of various designs retain the glass panels and provide a contemporary appearance for your glass balustrade. Round and square varieties are available to suit different architectural styles.
Hidden clamp –
These fixings are specially designed in consultation with the building designer and can be concealed beneath architectural features to blend with the building structure.
Tab, clamps & hidden channels
There are various styles and options available for fixing glass panels between, or within, openings created by the specific building design features. Clamps are generally “off the shelf” stainless steel purpose designed for various situations. Custom designs can also be employed when and if required.
